Atlas of the human brain, third edition par Mai, Juergen K. Publication : [S.l.] Academic Press 2007 . 280 p. , High-resolution human imaging requires a high-resolution atlas. There is no atlas that approaches the accuracy and comprehensiveness of The Atlas of the Human Brain . This is the third, thoroughly revised, edition of the very successful atlas that received the Award of Excellence from the American Association of Publishers. Constructed by the recognized leaders in brain cartography, the atlas provides the most detailed and accurate delineations of brain structure available. It is intended as an atlas for day-to-day use in the research laboratory to identify macroscopic and microscopic structures in the human brain as collected in research data with a variety of methods. It will also be particularly useful for the interpretation of magnetic resonance imaging data. The atlas includes a DVD with not only the atlas in electronic format, providing electronic versions of drawings and photographs to facilitate use of atlas contents with researchers' own material, but also 3D visualisation software that allows easy browsing of the images, and a feature to allow direct retrieval of brain areas using coordinates obtained in magnetic resonance imaging. * Brain structures are presented in the standard Talairach and Tournoux stereotaxic space * DVD contains MRI-Navigator (3D visualization of MR images), BrainNavigator (3D navigation through the detailed coronal atlas in PART 2) allowing the neuroimaging community to dial in the coordinates of their activation focus and find out what area of the brain the activation occurs in * Significantly larger trim size (14 x 11 inches) providing much higher detail in the print graphics and photographs. 36 cm. Brain dynamics : an introduction to models and simulations par Haken, Hermann. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2008 . 347 p. , This is an excellent introduction for graduate students and nonspecialists to the field of mathematical and computational neurosciences. The book approaches the subject via pulsed-coupled neural networks, which have at their core the lighthouse and integrate-and-fire models. These allow for highly flexible modeling of realistic synaptic activity, synchronization and spatio-temporal pattern formation. The more advanced pulse-averaged equations are discussed. 25 cm. Brain tumor pathology : current diagnostic hotspots and pitfalls par Schiffer, Davide. Publication : Nethelands Springer 2006 . 278 p. , This book is not a treatise on brain tumor pathology and nosography. It has been conceived as a help to pathologists, neuropathologists and neuro-oncologists in confronting everyday problems arising in the diagnostics of brain tumors. The initial chapters cover the distinction between infiltrating tumors and normal nervous tissue, between diffuse astrocytoma and oligodendroglioma and the identification of the malignant variant of some tumor types. Moreover, in the pathology of brain tumors, some biological processes are active which show a development over the course of time, such that in surgical samples they cannot be recognized as a whole, but only from the occurrence of limited and partial aspects. Invasion modalities, angiogenesis and apoptosis fall in this category and are discussed not in an exhaustive manner, but as stages or phases of the processes identified in the tissue. The figures do not seek to illustrate the characteristic aspects of the tumors, but only the points under discussion. This book is the result of many years of personal experience in the diagnosis of brain tumors as well as of discussions with neurosurgeons and neuro-oncologists and it aspires to contribute to solving emerging everyday problems. 25 cm.
