Neural networks in a softcomputing framework par Du, Ke-Lin. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2010 . 616 p. , This concise but comprehensive textbook reviews the most popular neural-network methods and their associated techniques. Each chapter provides state-of-the-art descriptions of important major research results of the respective neural-network methods. A range of relevant computational intelligence topics, such as fuzzy logic and evolutionary algorithms – powerful tools for neural-network learning – are introduced. The systematic survey of neural-network models and exhaustive references list will point readers toward topics for future research. The algorithms outlined also make this textbook a valuable reference for scientists and practitioners working in pattern recognition, signal processing, speech and image processing, data analysis and artificial intelligence. 24 cm. Neural networks methodology and applications par Dreyfus, Gerard. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2010 . 498 p. , Neural networks represent a powerful data processing technique that has reached maturity and broad application. When clearly understood and appropriately used, they are a mandatory component in the toolbox of any engineer who wants make the best use of the available data, in order to build models, make predictions, mine data, recognize shapes or signals, etc. Ranging from theoretical foundations to real-life applications, this book is intended to provide engineers and researchers with clear methodologies for taking advantage of neural networks in industrial, financial or banking applications, many instances of which are presented in the book. For the benefit of readers wishing to gain deeper knowledge of the topics, the book features appendices that provide theoretical details for greater insight, and algorithmic details for efficient programming and implementation. The chapters have been written by experts and edited to present a coherent and comprehensive, yet not redundant, practically oriented introduction. 23 cm. Noise reduction in speech processing par Benesty,, Jacob. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2009 . 230 p. , Noise is everywhere and in most applications that are related to audio and speech, such as human-machine interfaces, hands-free communications, voice over IP (VoIP), hearing aids, teleconferencing/telepresence/telecollaboration systems, and so many others, the signal of interest (usually speech) that is picked up by a microphone is generally contaminated by noise. As a result, the microphone signal has to be cleaned up with digital signal processing tools before it is stored, analyzed, transmitted, or played out. This cleaning process is often called noise reduction and this topic has attracted a considerable amount of research and engineering attention for several decades. One of the objectives of this book is to present in a common framework an overview of the state of the art of noise reduction algorithms in the single-channel (one microphone) case. The focus is on the most useful approaches, i.e., filtering techniques (in different domains) and spectral enhancement methods. The other objective of Noise Reduction in Speech Processing is to derive all these well-known techniques in a rigorous way and prove many fundamental and intuitive results often taken for granted. This book is especially written for graduate students and research engineers who work on noise reduction for speech and audio applications and want to understand the subtle mechanisms behind each approach. Many new and interesting concepts are presented in this text that we hope the readers will find useful and inspiring. 25 cm. Object-oriented and classical software engineering par Schach,, Stephen R. Publication : [S.l.] McGraw-Hill 2010 . 672 p. , Integrating case studies to show the object oriented approach to software engineering, "Object-Oriented and Classical Software Engineering, 8/e" presents an excellent introduction to software engineering fundamentals, covering both traditional and object-oriented techniques. While maintaining a unique organization with Part I covering underlying software engineering theory, and Part II presenting the more practical life cycle, the eighth edition includes significant revision to problems, new content, as well as a new chapter to enable instructors to better-utilize the book in a one-semester course. Complementing this well-balanced approach is the straightforward, student-friendly writing style, through which difficult concepts are presented in a clear, understandable manner. 24 cm. Pearls of functional algorithm design par Bird, Richard Publication : Cambridge | New York Cambridge University Press 2010 . xi, 277 pages , "Richard Bird takes a radically new approach to algorithm design, namely, design by calculation. These 30 short chapters each deal with a particular programming problem drawn from sources as diverse as games and puzzles, intriguing combinatorial tasks, and more familiar areas such as data compression and string matching. Each pearl starts with the statement of the problem expressed using the functional programming language Haskell, a powerful yet succinct language for capturing algorithmic ideas clearly and simply. The novel aspect of the book is that each solution is calculated from an initial formulation of the problem in Haskell by appealing to the laws of functional programming. Pearls of Functional Algorithm Design will appeal to the aspiring functional programmer, students and teachers interested in the principles of algorithm design, and anyone seeking to master the techniques of reasoning about programs in an equational style"-- | "The novel aspect of the book is that each solution is calculated from the problem statement by appealing to the laws of functional programming. Programming with constraints : an introduction par Marriott, Kimbal. Publication : [S.l.] The MIT Press 1998 . 488 p. , The job of the constraint programmer is to use mathematical constraints to model real world constraints and objects. In this book, Kim Marriott and Peter Stuckey provide the first comprehensive introduction to the discipline of constraint programming and, in particular, constraint logic programming. The book covers the necessary background material from artificial intelligence, logic programming, operations research, and mathematical programming. Topics discussed range from constraint-solving techniques to programming methodologies for constraint programming languages. Because there is not yet a universally used syntax for constraint logic programming languages, the authors present the programs in a way that is independent of any existing programming language. Practical exercises cover how to use the book with a number of existing constraint languages. 27 cm.
