Functional differential equations application of I-smooth calculus par Kim, A.V. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 1999 . 184 p. , This monograph presents the basics of i-smooth calculus, a new differential calculus of nonlinear functionals based on the notion of invariant derivative, and its application to some problems of the qualitative theory of functional differential equations. This book is unique in its separation of finite and infinite dimensional components in the structures of functional differential equations and functionals, as well as in its use of conditional representation of FDEs, which is expedient for the application of methods and constructions of i-smooth calculus. Part I contains a foundation of i-smooth calculus. Part II is an introduction to FDEs based on i-smooth calculus. Part III describes the direct Lyapunov method for systems with delays in terms of i- smooth functionals. Part IV considers an approach to the development of a dynamical programming method for systems with delays in terms of i-smooth Bellman's functionals. Audience: This volume will be of interest to students and researchers in mathematics, applied mathematicians, and engineers whose work involves ordinary differential equations, functional analysis, partial differential equations, optimal control and mathematics systems theory. 25 cm. Global attractors in abstract parabolic problems par Cholewa,, Jan W. Publication : [S.l.] Cambridge University Press 2000 . 248 p. , The study of dissipative equations has attracted substantial attention over many years. Much progress has been achieved using a combination of both finite dimensional and infinite dimensional techniques. In this book the authors exploit these same ideas to investigate the asymptotic behavior of dynamical systems corresponding to parabolic equations. In particular they present the theory of global attractors in detail. Extensive auxiliary material and rich references make this self-contained book a suitable introduction for graduate students. 23 cm. Gradient flows in metric spaces and in the space of probability measures / par Ambrosio,, Luigi. Publication : [berlin.] Birkhuser Basel 2005 . 341 p. , The book is devoted to the theory of gradient flows in the general framework of metric spaces, and in the more specific setting of the space of probability measures, which provide a surprising link between optimal transportation theory and many evolutionary PDE's related to (non)linear diffusion. Particular emphasis is given to the convergence of the implicit time discretization method and to the error estimates for this discretization, extending the well established theory in Hilbert spaces. The book is split in two main parts that can be read independently of each other. 24 cm. Date : 2005 Disponibilité : Exemplaires disponibles: La bibliothèque des Sciences Exactes et Naturelles (1),

Introduction to asymptotic methods par Gao,, David Y. Publication : [S.l.] Chapman and Hall/CRC 2006 . 272 p. , Among the theoretical methods for solving many problems of applied mathematics, physics, and technology, asymptotic methods often provide results that lead to obtaining more effective algorithms of numerical evaluation. Presenting the mathematical methods of perturbation theory, Introduction to Asymptotic Methods reviews the most important methods of singular perturbations within the scope of application of differential equations. The authors take a challenging and original approach based on the integrated mathematical-analytical treatment of various objects taken from interdisciplinary fields of mechanics, physics, and applied mathematics. This new hybrid approach will lead to results that cannot be obtained by standard theories in the field. Emphasizing fundamental elements of the mathematical modeling process, the book provides comprehensive coverage of asymptotic approaches, regular and singular perturbations, one-dimensional non-stationary non-linear waves, Pad approximations, oscillators with negative Duffing type stiffness, and differential equations with discontinuous nonlinearities. The book also offers a method of construction for canonical variables transformation in parametric form along with a number of examples and applications. The book is applications oriented and features results and literature citations that have not been seen in the Western Scientific Community. The authors emphasize the dynamics of the development of perturbation methods and present the development of ideas associated with this wide field of researc 24 cm. Lectures on elliptic and parabolic equations in holder spaces par Krylov, N. V. Publication : [S.l.] American Mathematical Society 1996 . 164 p. , These lectures concentrate on fundamentals of the modern theory of linear elliptic and parabolic equations in Holder spaces. Krylov shows that this theory--including some issues of the theory of nonlinear equations--is based on some general and extremely powerful ideas and some simple computations. The main object of study is the first boundary-value problems for elliptic and parabolic equations, with some guidelines concerning other boundary-value problems such as the Neumann or oblique derivative problems or problems involving higher-order elliptic operators acting on the boundary. Numerical approximations are also discussed. This book, with nearly 200 exercises, will provide a good understanding of what kinds of results are available and what kinds of techniques are used to obtain them. 27 cm.
