Asymptotic theory of quantum statistical inference : selected papers   Publication : [S.l.] World Scientific Pub Co Inc 2005 . 542 p. , Quantum statistical inference, a research field with deep roots in the foundations of both quantum physics and mathematical statistics, has made remarkable progress since 1990. In particular, its asymptotic theory has been developed during this period. However, there has hitherto been no book covering this remarkable progress after 1990; the famous textbooks by Holevo and Helstrom deal only with research results in the earlier stage (1960s-1970s). This book presents the important and recent results of quantum statistical inference. It focuses on the asymptotic theory, which is one of the central issues of mathematical statistics and had not been investigated in quantum statistical inference until the early 1980s. It contains outstanding papers after Holevo's textbook, some of which are of great importance but are not available now. The reader is expected to have only elementary mathematical knowledge, and therefore much of the content will be accessible to graduate students as well as research workers in related fields. Introductions to quantum statistical inference have been specially written for the book. Asymptotic Theory of Quantum Statistical Inference: Selected Papers will give the reader a new insight into physics and statistical inference. 23 cm. Estimation in conditionally herteroscedastic time series models par Straumann,, Daniel. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2004 . 250 p. , In his seminal 1982 paper, Robert F. Engle described a time series model with a time-varying volatility. Engle showed that this model, which he called ARCH (autoregressive conditionally heteroscedastic), is well-suited for the description of economic and financial price. Nowadays ARCH has been replaced by more general and more sophisticated models, such as GARCH (generalized autoregressive heteroscedastic). This monograph concentrates on mathematical statistical problems associated with fitting conditionally heteroscedastic time series models to data. This includes the classical statistical issues of consistency and limiting distribution of estimators. Particular attention is addressed to (quasi) maximum likelihood estimation and misspecified models, along to phenomena due to heavy-tailed innovations. The used methods are based on techniques applied to the analysis of stochastic recurrence equations. Proofs and arguments are given wherever possible in full mathematical rigour. Moreover, the theory is illustrated by examples and simulation studies. 24 cm. Date : 2004 Disponibilité : Exemplaires disponibles: La bibliothèque des Sciences Exactes et Naturelles (1),

Evolutionary statistical procedures an evolutionary computation approach to statistical procedures designs and applications par Baragona, Roberto. Publication : Berlin | Heidelberg Springer 2011 . 1 volume (XI-276 pages) , La 4e de couv. indique : "This proposed text appears to be a good introduction to evolutionary computation for use in applied statistics research. The authors draw from a vast base of knowledge about the current literature in both the design of evolutionary algorithms and statistical techniques. Modern statistical research is on the threshold of solving increasingly complex problems in high dimensions, and the generalization of its methodology to parameters whose estimators do not follow mathematically simple distributions is underway. Many of these challenges involve optimizing functions for which analytic solutions are infeasible. Evolutionary algorithms represent a powerful and easily understood means of approximating the optimum value in a variety of settings. The proposed text seeks to guide readers through the crucial issues of optimization problems in statistical settings and the implementation of tailored methods (including both stand-alone evolutionary algorithms and hybrid crosses of these procedures with standard statistical algorithms like Metropolis-Hastings) in a variety of applications." 24 cm. Introduction to probability and statistics for engineers and scientists par Ross, Sheldon M. Publication : [S.l.] Academic Press 2009 . 664 p. , This updated text provides a superior introduction to applied probability and statistics for engineering or science majors. Ross emphasizes the manner in which probability yields insight into statistical problems; ultimately resulting in an intuitive understanding of the statistical procedures most often used by practicing engineers and scientists. Real data sets are incorporated in a wide variety of exercises and examples throughout the book, and this emphasis on data motivates the probability coverage. As with the previous editions, Ross' text has remendously clear exposition, plus real-data examples and exercises throughout the text. Numerous exercises, examples, and applications apply probability theory to everyday statistical problems and situations. Also Available: Student Solutions Manual for Introduction to Probability and Statistics for Engineers and Scientists, 4e ISBN:9780123705280 New to the 4th Edition: - New Chapter on Simulation, Bootstrap Statistical Methods, and Permutation Tests - 20% New Updated problem sets and applications, that demonstrate updated applications to engineering as well as biological, physical and computer science - New Real data examples that use significant real data from actual studies across life science, engineering, computing and business - New End of Chapter review material that emphasizes key ideas as well as the risks associated with practical application of the material. 24 cm. Statistical methods in experimental physics par James, Frederick Publication : [S.l.] World Scientific Publishing 2006 . 345 p. , The first edition of this classic book has become the authoritative reference for physicists desiring to master the finer points of statistical data analysis. This second edition contains all the important material of the first, much of it unavailable from any other sources. In addition, many chapters have been updated with considerable new material, especially in areas concerning the theory and practice of confidence intervals, including the important Feldman-Cousins method. Both frequentist and Bayesian methodologies are presented, with a strong emphasis on techniques useful to physicists and other scientists in the interpretation of experimental data and comparison with scientific theories. This is a valuable textbook for advanced graduate students in the physical sciences as well as a reference for active researchers. 24 cm.
