Dynamic mechanical analysis : a practical introduction, second edition par Menard, Kevin P. Publication : Boca Raton, FL CRC Press 2008 . 218 p. , Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) has left the domain of the rheologist and has become a prevalent tool in the analytical laboratory. However, information on the use of this important tool is still scattered among a range of books and articles. Novices in the field have to dig through thermal analysis, rheology, and materials texts just to find the basics. Updated with new material, expanded practical explanations, and new applications, Dynamic Mechanical Analysis, Second Edition continues to give chemists, engineers, and materials scientists a starting point for applying DMA to their individual fields. It imparts a clear understanding of how DMA works, its advantages, and possible limitations. Additional topics include stress/strain, data handling, experimental technology, test methods, and data analysis. One of the only references dedicated to DMA, this accessible and easy-to-read guide gathers the most pertinent information available on this important technique. 25 cm. Earthquake resistant buildings dynamic analyses, numerical computations, codified methods, case studies and examples par Bangash, M.Y.H. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2011 . 706 p. , This concise work provides a general introduction to the design of buildings which must be resistant to the effect of earthquakes. A major part of this design involves the building structure which has a primary role in preventing serious damage or structural collapse. Much of the material presented in this book examines building structures. Due to the recent discovery of vertical components, it examines not only the resistance to lateral forces but also analyses the disastrous influence of vertical components. The work is written for Practicing Civil, Structural, and Mechanical Engineers, Seismologists and Geoscientists. It serves as a knowledge source for graduate students and their instructors. 24 cm. Engineering vibration / par Inman,, Daniel J. Publication : [S.l.] : Prentice Hall, 2007 . 688 p. ; , Serving as both text and reference manual, this text connects traditional design-oriented topics, the introduction of modal analysis, and the use of MATLAB. The author provides an unequaled combination of the study of conventional vibration with the use of vibration design, analysis and testing in various engineering applications. Special-interest windows utilized throughout the text placed at points where prior or background information summaries are required. Remind readers of essential information pertinent to the text material, preventing them from flipping to previous chapters or reference texts for formulas or other information. Examines topics that reflect some of the recent advances in vibration technology, changes in ABET criteria and the increased importance of both engineering design and modal analysis. Incorporates MATLAB Vibration Toolbox throughout allowing readers to conduct and explore vibration analysis. Toolbox offers professional quality computer analyses including basics, introduction to model analysis with actual experimental data files and finite elements. Readers are challenged with over 65 computer problems (645 problems in all) including use of manufacture's design charts, measurement analysis, and matrix eigenvalue computing for frequencies and modes. Ideal for readers with an interest in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics. 25 cm. Fire retardancy of polymers : new applications of mineral fillers.   Publication : [S.l.] : Royal Society of Chemistry, 2005 . 410 p. ; , The use of polymers is restricted by their flammability- they may indeed initiate or propagate fire. Fire Retardancy of Polymers focuses on mineral additives from either micro- or nano-composites for application in fire retardants. With the use of fire retardant additives containing halogen or phosphorus compounds in decline, the need for other systems is evident. The major materials that are used as fire retardant fillers for polymers are alumina trihydrate or magnesium hydroxide, which account for more than 50% by weight of the world-wide sales of fire retardants. Recent works have shown that such halogen-free compounds may give enhanced fire retardancy to polymeric materials when used in low levels, alone, or in synergistic mixtures, and that the corresponding fire performances depend on the dispersion of the mineral filler, micrometer-scale dispersion leading to the best performances. Specialists discuss these new applications of mineral fillers with particular emphasis on action mechanisms, new materials including textiles, toxicology, and hazards. With extensive references, this book provides a comprehensive and up-to-date view of these applications and will appeal to professionals, materials scientists, and engineers looking for novel ways to eliminate fire hazards and improve flame retardancy of materials, with a special interest in sustainable development. 24 cm.
