Fundamentals of multiphase flow / par Brennen Christopher., E., Publication : [S.l.] : Cambridge University Press, 2005 . 368 p. ; , This book is targeted to graduate students and researchers at the cutting edge of investigations into the fundamental nature of multiphase flows. It is intended as a reference book for the basic methods used in the treatment of multiphase flows. The subject of multiphase flows encompasses a vast field whose broad spectrum presents a problem for the experimental and analytical methodologies that might be appropriate for the reader's interests. The aim of Fundamentals of Multiphase Flow is to bring much of this fundamental understanding together into one book, presenting a unifying approach to the fundamental ideas of multiphase flows. The book summarizes those fundamental concepts with relevance to a broad spectrum of multiphase flows. It does not pretend to present a comprehensive review of the details of any one multiphase flow or technological context; references to such reviews are included where appropriate. 26 cm. Nanomaterials : mechanics and mechanisms / par Ramesh,, K.T. Publication : [S.l.] : Springer, 2009 . 353 p. ; , The enabling science in much of nanotechnology today is the science of nanomaterials; indeed in the broadest sense, nanotechnology would not be possible without nanomaterials. Nanomaterials: Mechanics and Mechanisms seeks to provide an entr into the field for mechanical engineers, material scientists, chemical and biomedical engineers and physicists. The objective is to provide the reader with the connections needed to understand the intense activity in the area of the mechanics of nanomaterials, and to develop ways of thinking about these new materials that could be useful to both research and application. The book covers all of the fundamentals of the mechanical properties of materials in a highly readable style, and integrates most of the literature on the emerging field of nanomaterials into a coherent body of knowledge. This volume provides a basic understanding of mechanics and materials, and specifically nanomaterials and nanomechanics, in one self-contained text. Graduate and advanced undergraduate students will find well-organized chapters that provide the necessary background in mechanics, mechanical properties and modeling. The writing style illustrates concepts through quantitative modeling techniques, in contrast to theoretical abstractions of materials behavior. Problem sets within each chapter aim to motivate discussion and further study in this rich and bourgeoning field. Providing engineers with the knowledge necessary to take full advantage of the tremendous potential of nanomaterials, Nanomaterials: Mechanics and Mechanisms is a valuableteaching/learning tool formechanical engineering, physics and materials science au 24 cm. Turbulence : an introduction for scientists and engineers / par Davidson,, P. A. Publication : [S.l.] : Oxford University Press, USA, 2004 . 678 p. ; , Based on a course by the author at the University of Cambridge, this comprehensive text on turbulence and fluid dynamics is aimed at year 4 undergraduates and graduates in applied mathematics, physics and engineering and provides an ideal reference for industry professionals and researchers. It bridges the gap between elementary accounts of turbulence found in undergraduate texts and more rigorous accounts given in monographs on the subject. Containing exercises and many examples, the author combines the maximum of physical insight with the minimum of mathematical detail where possible. The text is highly illustrated throughout, and includes color plates; all required mathematical techniques are covered in extensive appendices. The text is divided into three parts: Part I consists of a traditional introduction to the classical aspects of turbulence, the nature of turbulence, and the equations of fluid mechanics. Mathematics is kept to a minimum, presupposing only an elementary knowledge of fluid mechanics and statistics. Part II tackles the problem of homogeneous turbulence with a focus on numerical methods. Part III covers certain special topics rarely discussed in introductory texts. Many geophysical and astrophysical flows are dominated by the effects of body forces, such as buoyancy, Coriolis and Lorentz forces. Moreover, certain large-scale flows are approximately two-dimensional and this has led to a concerted investigation of two-dimensional turbulence over the last few years. Both the influence of body forces and two-dimensional turbulence are discussed. 25 cm. Date : 2004 Disponibilité : Exemplaires disponibles: La bibliothèque des Sciences Exactes et Naturelles (1),
