A garden of quanta : essays in honor of hiroshi ezawa par Kobayashi, M. Publication : [S.l.] World Scientific Pub Co Inc 2003 . 502 p. , This collection of reviews and essays about the wide-ranging developments in the areas of quantum physics has mostly been written at the graduate level, but some are accessible to advanced undergraduates. They should serve as good introductions for beginning graduate students in quantum physics who are looking for directions. Aspects of mathematical physics, quantum field theories and statistical physics are emphasized. 22 cm. Advanced topics in quantum field theory a lecture course par Shifman, Mikhail A. Publication : Cambridge | New York Cambridge University Press 2012 . xvii 622 pages , "Since the advent of Yang-Mills theories and supersymmetry in the 1970s, quantum field theory - the basis of the modern description of physical phenomena at the fundamental level - has undergone revolutionary developments. This is the first systematic and comprehensive text devoted specifically to modern field theory, bringing readers to the cutting edge of current research. The book emphasizes nonperturbative phenomena and supersymmetry. It includes a thorough discussion of various phases of gauge theories, extended objects and their quantization, and global supersymmetry from a modern perspective. Featuring extensive cross-referencing from traditional topics to recent breakthroughs in the field, it prepares students for independent research. The side boxes summarizing the main results and over 70 exercises make this an indispensable book for graduate students and researchers in theoretical physics"-- 26 cm. Geometry and quantum field theory : june 22-july 20, 1991, park city, utah par Freed, Daniel S. Publication : [S.l.] American Mathematical Society 1995 . 459 p. , Exploring topics from classical and quantum mechanics and field theory, this book is based on lectures presented in the Graduate Summer School at the Regional Geometry Institute in Park City, Utah, in 1991. The chapter by Bryant treats Lie groups and symplectic geometry, examining not only the connection with mechanics but also the application to differential equations and the recent work of the Gromov school. Rabin's discussion of quantum mechanics and field theory is specifically aimed at mathematicians. Alvarez describes the application of supersymmetry to prove the Atiyah-Singer index theorem, touching on ideas that also underlie more complicated applications of supersymmetry. Quinn's account of the topological quantum field theory captures the formal aspects of the path integral and shows how these ideas can influence branches of mathematics which at first glance may not seem connected. Presenting material at a level between that of textbooks and research papers, much of the book would provide excellent material for graduate courses. The book provides an entree into a field that promises to remain exciting and important for years to come. 27 cm. Noncommutative distributions : unitary representation of gauge groups and algebras par Albeverio, Sergio. Publication : [S.l.] M. Dekker, cop. 1993 . 190 p. , Covering important aspects of the theory of unitary representations of nuclear Lie groups, this self-contained reference presents the general theory of energy representations and addresses various extensions of path groups and algebras.;Requiring only a general knowledge of the theory of unitary representations, topological groups and elementary stochastic analysis, Noncommutative Distributions: examines a theory of noncommutative distributions as irreducible unitary representations of groups of mappings from a manifold into a Lie group, with applications to gauge-field theories; describes the energy representation when the target Lie group G is compact; discusses representations of G-valued jet bundles when G is not necessarily compact; and supplies a synthesis of deep results on quasi-simple Lie algebras.;Providing over 200 bibliographic citations, drawings, tables, and equations, Noncommutative Distributions is intended for research mathematicians and theoretical and mathematical physicists studying current algebras, the representation theory of Lie groups, and quantum field theory, and graduate students in these disciplines. 24 cm. Topological quantum field theory and four manifolds par Labastida, Jose Publication : Dordrecht Springer 2005 . 222 p. , The present book is the first of its kind in dealing with topological quantum field theories and their applications to topological aspects of four manifolds. It is not only unique for this reason but also because it contains sufficient introductory material that it can be read by mathematicians and theoretical physicists. On the one hand, it contains a chapter dealing with topological aspects of four manifolds, on the other hand it provides a full introduction to supersymmetry. The book constitutes an essential tool for researchers interested in the basics of topological quantum field theory, since these theories are introduced in detail from a general point of view. In addition, the book describes Donaldson theory and Seiberg-Witten theory, and provides all the details that have led to the connection between these theories using topological quantum field theory. It provides a full account of Witten’s magic formula relating Donaldson and Seiberg-Witten invariants. Furthermore, the book presents some of the recent developments that have led to important applications in the context of the topology of four manifolds. 25 cm.
