˜The œquantum mechanics solver : how to apply quantum theory to modern physics / par Basdevant, Jean-Louis. Publication : [S.l.] : Springer, 2005 . 292 p. ; , The Quantum Mechanics Solver uniquely illustrates the application of quantum mechanical concepts to various fields of modern physics. It aims at encouraging the reader to apply quantum mechanics to research problems in fields such as molecular physics, condensed matter physics or laser physics. Advanced undergraduates and graduate students will find a rich and challenging source of material for further exploration. This book consists of a series of problems concerning present-day experimental or theoretical questions on quantum mechanics. All of these problems are based on actual physical examples, even if sometimes the mathematical structure of the models under consideration is simplified intentionally in order to get hold of the physics more rapidly. The new edition features new themes, such as the progress in measuring neutrino oscillations, quantum boxes, the quantum thermometer etc. Secondly, it includes a brief summary on the basics of quantum mechanics and the formalism we use. Finally, the problems under three main themes: Elementary Particles, Nuclei and Atoms; Quantum Entanglement and Measurement; and Complex Systems. 24 cm. Advanced Quantum Mechanics par Dyson,, Freeman. Publication : [S.l.] World Scientific Publishing Company 2007 . 236 p. , Renowned physicist and mathematician Freeman Dyson is famous for his work in quantum mechanics, nuclear weapons policy and bold visions for the future of humanity. In the 1940s, he was responsible for demonstrating the equivalence of the two formulations of quantum electrodynamics Richard Feynman's diagrammatic path integral formulation and the variational methods developed by Julian Schwinger and Sin-Itiro Tomonoga showing the mathematical consistency of QED. This invaluable volume comprises the legendary, never-before-published, lectures on quantum electrodynamics first given by Dyson at Cornell University in 1951. The late theorist Edwin Thompson Jaynes once remarked "For a generation of physicists they were the happy medium: clearer and motivated than Feynman, and getting to the point faster than Schwinger . Future generations of physicists are bound to read these lectures with pleasure, benefiting from the lucid style that is so characteristic of Dyson's exposition. 25 cm. Advanced visual quantum mechanics par Thaller,, Bernd. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2004 . 532 p. , Visual Quantum Mechanics is a systematic effort to investigate and to teach quantum mechanics with the aid of computer-generated animations. Although it is self-contained, this book is part of a two-volume set on Visual Quantum Mechanics. The first book appeared in 2000, and earned the European Academic Software Award in 2001 for oustanding innovation in its field. While topics in book one mainly concerned quantum mechanics in one- and two-dimensions, book two sets out to present three-dimensional systems, the hydrogen atom, particles with spin, and relativistic particles. Together the two volumes constitute a complete course in quantum mechanics that places an emphasis on ideas and concepts, with a fair to moderate amount of mathematical rigor. 24 cm. Publication : [S.l.] : Oxford University Press, USA, 2007 . 288 p. ; , This concise, accessible text provides a thorough introduction to quantum computing - an exciting emergent field at the interface of the computer, engineering, mathematical and physical sciences. Aimed at advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate students in these disciplines, the text is technically detailed and is clearly illustrated throughout with diagrams and exercises. Some prior knowledge of linear algebra is assumed, including vector spaces and inner products. However, prior familiarity with topics such as tensor products and spectral decomposition is not required, as the necessary material is reviewed in the text. 24 cm. Asymptotic theory of quantum statistical inference : selected papers   Publication : [S.l.] World Scientific Pub Co Inc 2005 . 542 p. , Quantum statistical inference, a research field with deep roots in the foundations of both quantum physics and mathematical statistics, has made remarkable progress since 1990. In particular, its asymptotic theory has been developed during this period. However, there has hitherto been no book covering this remarkable progress after 1990; the famous textbooks by Holevo and Helstrom deal only with research results in the earlier stage (1960s-1970s). This book presents the important and recent results of quantum statistical inference. It focuses on the asymptotic theory, which is one of the central issues of mathematical statistics and had not been investigated in quantum statistical inference until the early 1980s. It contains outstanding papers after Holevo's textbook, some of which are of great importance but are not available now. The reader is expected to have only elementary mathematical knowledge, and therefore much of the content will be accessible to graduate students as well as research workers in related fields. Introductions to quantum statistical inference have been specially written for the book. Asymptotic Theory of Quantum Statistical Inference: Selected Papers will give the reader a new insight into physics and statistical inference. 23 cm. Constructing reality quantum theory and particle physics par Marburger, John H. Publication : Cambridge, UK | New York : Cambridge University Press 2011 . viii, 287 pages , "Questions of the fundamental nature of matter continue to inspire and engage our imagination. However, the exciting new concepts of strings, supersymmetry and exotic matter build on ideas that are well known to physicists but mysterious and puzzling to people outside of these research fields. Covering key conceptual developments from the last century, this book provides a background to the bold ideas and challenges faced by physicists today. Quantum theory and the Standard Model of particles are explained with minimal mathematics, and advanced topics, such as gauge theory and quantum field theory, are put into context. With concise, lucid explanations, this book is an essential guide to the world of particle physics"-- | "This picture of the winding state vector glosses over the subtlety that we freely choose when as well as where or what to measure. The Dirac view separates the abstract state vector from all of these contingent choices. Moreover, the principles of relativity demand that we treat when and where (time and space) on a more or less equal footing. Thus a better choice for an omniscient picture corresponding to the classical 'tapestry of world lines' is a Master State Vector for all of nature in an abstract Hilbert space 'outside of space and time' whose coordinates bear labels for time as well as for distance or momentum and other properties. In this picture space-time, being a property of the detectors, not the underlying stuff, is a macroscopic phenomenon. For historical reasons, the picture in which the state vector depends on time is called the Schrodinger picture, and the alternative static case is called the Heisenberg picture"-- 24 cm.
