Steels : microstructure and properties, second edition / par Honeycombe,, Robert. Publication : [S.l.] : Butterworth-Heinemann, 1995 . 336 p. ; , Steels remain the most widely used metallic materials. By examining the mechanical properties of steels in conjunction with microstructure the first edition gave a clear description of the development and behaviour of these materials - the very foundation of their widespread use. This new edition more explicitly links this theory with applications whilst retaining the style and purpose of the original. The text is updated throughout and includes three new chapters on acicular ferrite; the control of microstructures during welding; and a further chapter on the modelling of steel microstructure to achieve optimum performance. Extensive bibliographies are also included. Steel metallurgists in both industry and academia will find this book invaluable. * A comprehensive introduction to the microstructure and properties of steels. * Clearly written and well illustrated. * Extensive bibliographies. 24 cm. Technology development for army unmanned ground vehicles / par Technology,, Committee on Army Unmanned Ground Vehicle. Publication : [S.l.] : National Academies Press, 2002 . 180 p. ; , Unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) are expected to play a key role in the Army's Objective Force structure. These UGVs would be used for weapons platforms, logistics carriers, and reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition among other things. To examine aspects of the Army's UGV program, assess technology readiness, and identify key issues in implementing UGV systems, among other questions, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Research and Technology asked the National Research Council (NRC) to conduct a study of UGV technologies. This report discusses UGV operational requirements, current development efforts, and technology integration and roadmaps to the future. Key recommendations are presented addressing technical content, time lines, and milestones for the UGV efforts. 28 cm. The physical metallurgy of microalloyed steels par Gladman, T. Publication : [S.l.] : Maney Materials Science, 2002 . 363 p. ; , This volume provides a substantial background to microalloyed steels with a wide selection of applications, some of which are very recent. A well-illustrated practical guide, it will act as a useful source of data and a concise account of the theoretical aspects of the subject. 24 cm. Theory of bridge aerodynamics / par Strłmmen,, Einar. Publication : [S.l.] : Springer, 2006 . 239 p. ; , This textbook is intended for studies in structural dynamics or wind engineering, with special focus on the stochastic theory of wind induced dynamic response calculations for slender bridges or other line- like civil engineering type of structures. It contains the background assumptions and hypothesis as well as the development of the computational theory that is necessary for the prediction of wind induced fluctuating displacements and cross sectional forces. The book contains detailed and complete examples of relevant cases that are useful for the understanding and the practical application of the theory. The text is at an advanced level in the sense that it requires some knowledge of basic structural dynamics, particularly of solution procedures in a modal format. 25 cm. Turbulence : an introduction for scientists and engineers / par Davidson,, P. A. Publication : [S.l.] : Oxford University Press, USA, 2004 . 678 p. ; , Based on a course by the author at the University of Cambridge, this comprehensive text on turbulence and fluid dynamics is aimed at year 4 undergraduates and graduates in applied mathematics, physics and engineering and provides an ideal reference for industry professionals and researchers. It bridges the gap between elementary accounts of turbulence found in undergraduate texts and more rigorous accounts given in monographs on the subject. Containing exercises and many examples, the author combines the maximum of physical insight with the minimum of mathematical detail where possible. The text is highly illustrated throughout, and includes color plates; all required mathematical techniques are covered in extensive appendices. The text is divided into three parts: Part I consists of a traditional introduction to the classical aspects of turbulence, the nature of turbulence, and the equations of fluid mechanics. Mathematics is kept to a minimum, presupposing only an elementary knowledge of fluid mechanics and statistics. Part II tackles the problem of homogeneous turbulence with a focus on numerical methods. Part III covers certain special topics rarely discussed in introductory texts. Many geophysical and astrophysical flows are dominated by the effects of body forces, such as buoyancy, Coriolis and Lorentz forces. Moreover, certain large-scale flows are approximately two-dimensional and this has led to a concerted investigation of two-dimensional turbulence over the last few years. Both the influence of body forces and two-dimensional turbulence are discussed. 25 cm. Date : 2004 Disponibilité : Exemplaires disponibles: La bibliothèque des Sciences Exactes et Naturelles (1),
