˜An œintroduction to wavelets and other filtering methods in finance and economics / par Gençay,, Ramazan. Publication : . 1 online resource (xxii, 359 pages) : , An Introduction to Wavelets and Other Filtering Methods in Finance and Economics presents a unified view of filtering techniques with a special focus on wavelet analysis in finance and economics. It emphasizes the methods and explanations of the theory that underlies them. It also concentrates on exactly what wavelet analysis (and filtering methods in general) can reveal about a time series. It offers testing issues which can be performed with wavelets in conjunction with the multi-resolution analysis. The descriptive focus of the book avoids proofs and provides easy access to a wide spectrum of parametric and nonparametric filtering methods. Examples and empirical applications will show readers the capabilities, advantages, and disadvantages of each method. Optima and equilibria an introduction to nonlinear analysis par Aubin, Jean-Pierre. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2003 . 433 p. , Progress in the theory of economic equilibria and in game theory has proceeded hand in hand with that of the mathematical tools used in the field, namely nonlinear analysis and, in particular, convex analysis. Jean-Pierre Aubin, one of the leading specialists in nonlinear analysis and its application to economics, has written a rigorous and concise - yet still elementary and self-contained - textbook providing the mathematical tools needed to study optima and equilibria, as solutions to problems, arising in economics, management sciences, operations research, cooperative and non-cooperative games, fuzzy games etc. It begins with the foundations of optimization theory, and mathematical programming, and in particular convex and nonsmooth analysis. Nonlinear analysis is then presented, first game-theoretically, then in the framework of set valued analysis. These results are then applied to the main classes of economic equilibria. The book contains numerous exercises and problems: the latter allow the reader to venture into areas of nonlinear analysis that lie beyond the scope of the book and of most graduate courses. 24 cm. Pro-poor growth and liberalization in developing economies : the case of nepal par Acharya,, Sanjaya. Publication : [S.l.] Routledge 2011 . 240 p. , By looking at the link between trade liberalization and pro-poor growth in Nepal, this book explores how a developing and transition economy can attain higher and pro-poor growth along with the ongoing trend of globalization. The author develops a social accounting database for Nepal and applies it to quantify computable general equilibrium (CGE) model to investigate the trade-offs between growth and distribution that are associated with opening up the economy and deregulating it. The book presents a number of pragmatic scenarios that bring about the desired pro-poor growth effects in order to demonstrate possible outcomes for policy making. The research findings apply to other economies with similar macroeconomic structure to Nepal; those small economies with a dominant, traditional, and stagnant agriculture; fragile industrial base, weak and volatile external sector, and almost half of the population living below the poverty line. This book will be of considerable interest to students and scholars in the areas of development economics, political economy of policy reforms, and trade and poverty with special emphasis on South Asia. 24 cm. Probability models for economic decisions par Myerson,, Roger B. Publication : [S.l.] Cengage Learning 2004 . 432 p. , This book is an introduction to the use of probability models for analyzing risks and economic decisions. Throughout this book, author Roger Myerson focuses on showing students how to use probability in complex realistic situations. All the analytical work in this book is done in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. As a result of the emphasis on spreadsheet modeling, students will also develop sophisticated spreadsheet skills. However, the main goals of the book are to make the practical power of probability analysis accessible to students and to demonstrate how to apply these concepts in the real world. 24 cm.
