A first course in harmonic analysis par Deitmar, Anton. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2010 . 192 p. , Affordable softcover second edition of bestselling title (over 1000 copies sold of previous edition) A primer in harmonic analysis on the undergraduate level Gives a lean and streamlined introduction to the central concepts of this beautiful and utile theory. Entirely based on the Riemann integral and metric spaces instead of the more demanding Lebesgue integral and abstract topology. Almost all proofs are given in full and all central concepts are presented clearly. Provides an introduction to Fourier analysis, leading up to the Poisson Summation Formula. Make the reader aware of the fact that both principal incarnations of Fourier theory, the Fourier series and the Fourier transform, are special cases of a more general theory arising in the context of locally compact abelian groups. Introduces the reader to the techniques used in harmonic analysis of noncommutative groups. These techniques are explained in the context of matrix groups as a principal example. 24 cm. Methods of nonlinear analysis applications to differential equations par Dràbek, Pavel Publication : Basel | Boston | Berlin Birkhäuser 2007 . 568 p. , In this book, the basic methods of nonlinear analysis are emphasized and illustrated in simple examples. Every considered method is motivated, explained in a general form but in the simplest possible abstract framework. Its applications are shown, particularly to boundary value problems for elementary ordinary or partial differential equations. The text is organized in two levels: a self-contained basic and, organized in appendices, an advanced level for the more experienced reader. Exercises are an organic part of the exposition and accompany the reader throughout the book. 24 cm. Pfaffian systems, K-symplectic systems / par Awane, A. Publication : [S.l.] : Springer, 2000 . 260 p. ; , The geometrical view of mechanics is based on the study of certain exterior systems, the most classical of which are Pfaffian systems. In this book, we present the classification theorems (Frobenius, Darboux) and the local classification of Pfaffian systems of five variables, following Cartan. We also present a new class of exterior systems, called k-symplectic systems, generalizing the notion of symplectic form. These systems permit us to write in the language of exterior forms the equations proposed by Nambu for a model of statistical mechanics. Audience: This book is aimed at graduate students and at research workers in the field of mathematics, differential geometry, statistical mechanics, mathematics of physics and Lie algebras. 25 cm. Postmodern analysis par Jost, Jürgen. Publication : Berlin ; New York Springer 2005 . 371 p , This is an introduction to advanced analysis at the beginning graduate level that blends a modern presentation with concrete examples and applications, in particular in the areas of calculus of variations and partial differential equations. The book does not strive for abstraction for its own sake, but tries rather to impart a working knowledge of the key methods of contemporary analysis, in particular those that are also relevant for application in physics. It provides a streamlined and quick introduction to the fundamental concepts of Banach space and Lebesgue integration theory and the basic notions of the calculus of variations, including Sobolev space theory. The third edition contains new material on further important tool in analysis, namely cover theorems. Useful references for such results and further properties of various classes of weakly differential functions are added. And finally, misprints and minor inconsistencies have been corrected. 24 cm. The convenient setting of global analysis par Kriegl, Andreas Publication : Providence | R.I. American Mathematical Society 1997 . 618 p. , This book lays the foundations of differential calculus in infinite dimensions and discusses those applications in infinite dimensional differential geometry and global analysis not involving Sobolev completions and fixed point theory. The approach is simple: a mapping is called smooth if it maps smooth curves to smooth curves. Up to Frechet spaces, this notion of smoothness coincides with all known reasonable concepts. In the same spirit, calculus of holomorphic mappings (including Hartogs' theorem and holomorphic uniform boundedness theorems) and calculus of real analytic mappings are developed. Existence of smooth partitions of unity, the foundations of manifold theory in infinite dimensions, the relation between tangent vectors and derivations, and differential forms are discussed thoroughly. Special emphasis is given to the notion of regular infinite dimensional Lie groups. Many applications of this theory are included: manifolds of smooth mappings, groups of diffeomorphisms, geodesics on spaces of Riemannian metrics, direct limit manifolds, perturbation theory of operators, and differentiability questions of infinite dimensional representations. 27 cm.
