Bose algebras : the complex and real wave representations par Nielsen, Torben T. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 1991 . 138 p. , The mathematics of Bose-Fock spaces is built on the notion of a commutative algebra and this algebraic structure makes the theory appealing both to mathematicians with no background in physics and to theorectical and mathematical physicists who will at once recognize that the familiar set-up does not obscure the direct relevance to theoretical physics. The well-known complex and real wave representations appear here as natural consequences of the basic mathematical structure - a mathematician familiar with category theory will regard these representations as functors. Operators generated by creations and annihilations in a given Bose algebra are shown to give rise to a new Bose algebra of operators yielding the Weyl calculus of pseudo-differential operators. The book will be useful to mathematicians interested in analysis in infinitely many dimensions or in the mathematics of quantum fields and to theoretical physicists who can profit from the use of an effective and rigrous Bose formalism. 24 cm. Commuting nonselfadjoint operators in hilbert space : two independent studies par Livsic,, Moshe S. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2008 . 118 p. , Classification of commuting non-selfadjoint operators is one of the most challenging problems in operator theory even in the finite-dimensional case. The spectral analysis of dissipative operators has led to a series of deep results in the framework of unitary dilations and characteristic operator functions. It has turned out that the theory has to be based on analytic functions on algebraic manifolds and not on functions of several independent variables as was previously believed. This follows from the generalized Cayley-Hamilton Theorem, due to M.S.Livsic: "Two commuting operators with finite dimensional imaginary parts are connected in the generic case, by a certain algebraic equation whose degree does not exceed the dimension of the sum of the ranges of imaginary parts." Such investigations have been carried out in two directions. One of them, presented by L.L.Waksman, is related to semigroups of projections of multiplication operators on Riemann surfaces. Another direction, which is presented here by M.S.Livsic is based on operator colligations and collective motions of systems. Every given wave equation can be obtained as an external manifestation of collective motions. The algebraic equation mentioned above is the corresponding dispersion law of the input-output waves. 24 cm. Perturbation of spectra in hilbert space par Friedrichs, K. O. Publication : [S.l.] American Mathematical Society 2008 . 178 p. , The mathematics of the quantum theory of fields has been a continuing puzzle to mathematicians and physicists for many decades. Perturbation theory remains an important element of quantum mechanics. Computationally, it is one of the most successful methods available. However, various features of field theory produce difficulties with the perturbative approach. Here, Friedrichs assumes certain smoothness of the interaction Hamiltonian, which eliminates divergence of the terms in the perturbation expansion, but, as a consequence, forces him to give up the possibility of a local Lorentz-invariant interaction. In this book based on his 1960 lectures in Boulder, Friedrichs looks at some of the unresolved mathematical questions in the quantum field theory of the time, with an emphasis on problems coming from perturbation theory. The lectures begin with an introduction to perturbation theory of discrete and continuous spectra and the theory of scattering. These methods are then applied to perturbations by annihilation and creation operators. Each of the three chapters has a corresponding appendix, where Friedrichs discusses some alternative approaches and additional material relating to the main text. 25 cm. Pick interpolation and hilbert function spaces par Agler, Jim. Publication : [S.l.] American Mathematical Society 2002 . 328 p. , The book first rigorously develops the theory of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. The authors then discuss the Pick problem of finding the function of smallest $H^infty$ norm that has specified values at a finite number of points in the disk. Their viewpoint is to consider $H^infty$ as the multiplier algebra of the Hardy space and to use Hilbert space techniques to solve the problem. This approach generalizes to a wide collection of spaces. The authors then consider the interpolation problem in the space of bounded analytic functions on the bidisk and give a complete description of the solution. They then consider very general interpolation problems. The book includes developments of all the theory that is needed, including operator model theory, the Arveson extension theorem, and the hereditary functional calculus. 26 cm. Robust control theory in hilbert space par Feintuch, Avraham. Publication : New York Springer 1998 . XV-225 p. , An operator theoretic approach to robust control analysis for linear time-varying systems, with the emphasis on the conceptual similarity with the H control theory for time-invariant systems. It clarifies the major difficulties confronted in the time varying case and all the necessary operator theory is developed from first principles, making the book as self-contained as possible. After presenting the necessary results from the theories of Toeplitz operators and nest algebras, linear systems are defined as input-output operators and the relationship between stabilisation and the existence of co-prime factorisations is described. Uniform optimal control problems are formulated as model-matching problems and are reduced to four block problems, while robustness is considered both from the point of view of fractional representations and the "time varying gap" metric, as is the relationship between these types of uncertainties. The book closes with the solution of the orthogonal embedding problem for time-varying contractive systems. As such, this book is useful to both mathematicians and to control engineers. 25 cm. Structure of hilbert space operators par Jiang,, Chunlan. Publication : [S.l.] World Scientific Publishing Company 2006 . 260 p. , This book exposes the internal structure of non-self-adjoint operators acting on complex separable infinite dimensional Hilbert space, by analyzing and studying the commutant of operators. A unique presentation of the theorem of Cowen–Douglas operators is given. The authors take the strongly irreducible operator as a basic model, and find complete similarity invariants of Cowen–Douglas operators by using K-theory, complex geometry and operator algebra tools. 23 cm.
