˜The œboltzmann equation and its applications / par Cercignani, Carlo. Publication : [S.l.] : Springer, 1987 . 476 p. ; , This book gives a complete exposition of the present status of the theory of the Boltzmann equation and its applications. The Boltzmann equation, an integrodifferential equation established by Boltzmann in 1872 to describe the state of a dilute gas, still forms the basis for the kinetic theory of gases. It has proved fruitful not only for the study of the classical gases Boltzmann had in mind, but also, properly generalized, for electron transport in nuclear reactors, photon transport in superfluids, and radiative transport in planetary and stellar atmospheres. The text presents a unified approach to the problems arising in these different fields, by exploiting similarities whenever they exist and underlining the differences when necessary. But the main exposition is tied to the classical equation established by Boltzmann. Hence the detailed description of applications refers almost exclusively to monatomic neutral gases. Appropiate references are given to papers dealing with similar problems arising in other fields, with particular concern for neutron transport. A unique feature is the detailed consideration of the boundary conditions to be used in connection with the Boltzmann equation. Other topics covered in detail are the derivation of the Boltzmann equation from first principles, the theory of the linearized Boltzmann equation, the use of model equations, and the various regimes of rarefied gas dynamics. In addition to updating the material to 1987, the main improvement over the previous book of the author, "Theory and Application of the Boltzmann equation" is the detailed survey of the use of the techniques of functional analysis in connection with the nonlinear Boltzmann equation, a subject which has greatly progressed in the last ten years. 24 cm. An introduction to fluid mechanics and transport phenomena par Hauke, G. Publication : [S.l.] Springer 2008 . 316 p. , This book presents the foundations of fluid mechanics and transport phenomena in a concise way. It is suitable as an introduction to the subject as it contains many examples, proposed problems and a chapter for self-evaluation. The solutions to all problems are displayed in the corresponding appendix. The content is divided into four parts: fundamentals, conservation principles, dimensional analysis and transport phenomena at interfaces. The transport phenomena of momentum, heat and mass are presented from a rigorous fluid mechanics point of view, and they are explained using a unified, systematic approach, including the analogies between the various transport phenomena. 24 cm. Damped wave transport and relaxation / par Sharma,, Kal Renganathan. Publication : [S.l.] : Elsevier Science, 2005 . 462 p. ; , Transient problems in transport phenomena have a variety of applications, ranging from drug delivery systems in chemotherapy in bioengineering to heat transfer to surfaces in fluidized bed combustion (FBC) boilers in mechanical engineering. However, the attention given to transient problems is disproportionate with its occurrence in the industry. Damped Wave Transport and Relaxation looks at transient problems in heat, mass and momentum transfer: including non-Fourier effects of conduction and relaxation; non-Fick effects of mass diffusion and relaxation; and non-Newtonian effects of viscous momentum transfer and relaxation. The author also reviews applications to current problems of interest and uses worked examples and illustrations to describe the manifestations of using generalized transport equations. This book is intended for graduate students in transport phenomena and is an ideal reference source for industrial engineers. * Provides a connection with molecular phenomena * Separate sections are devoted to heat, mass and momentum transfer * Includes exercises and examples of applications. 25 cm. Finely dispersed particles : micro-, nano-, and atto-engineering   Publication : [S.l.] CRC Press 2005 . 936 p. , Over the last decade, the biggest advances in physical chemistry have come from thinking smaller. The leading edge in research pushes closer to the atomic frontier with every passing year. Collecting the latest developments in the science and engineering of finely dispersed particles and related systems, Finely Dispersed Particles: Micro-, Nano-, and Atto-Engineering explores heat, mass, momentum and electron transfer phenomena of well-characterized interfaces at the milli-, micro-, nano-, and atto-scales. An interdisciplinary team of leading experts from around the world discuss recent concepts in the physics and chemistry of various well-studied interfaces of rigid and deformable particles in homo- and hetero-aggregate dispersed systems, including emulsions, dispersoids, foams, fluosols, polymer membranes, and biocolloids. The contributors clearly elucidate the hydrodynamic, electrodynamic, and thermodynamic instabilities that occur at interfaces, as well as the rheological properties of interfacial layers responsible for droplets, particles, and droplet-particle-film structures in finely dispersed systems. The book examines structure and dynamics from various angles, such as relativistic and non-relativistic theories, molecular orbital methods, and transient state theories. With a comprehensive survey of our current understanding, Finely Dispersed Particles: Micro-, Nano-, and Atto-Engineering provides a solid platform for further exploration and discovery at increasingly smaller scales. 26 cm. The relativistic boltzmann equation : theory and applications par Cercignani, Carlo. Publication : [S.l.] Birkhäuser Basel 2002 . 394 p. , The aim of this book is to present the theory and applications of the relativistic Boltzmann equation in a self-contained manner, even for those readers who have no familiarity with special and general relativity. Though an attempt is made to present the basic concepts in a complete fashion, the style of presentation is chosen to be appealing to readers who want to understand how kinetic theory is used for explicit calculations. The book will be helpful not only as a textbook for an advanced course on relativistic kinetic theory but also as a reference for physicists, astrophysicists and applied mathematicians who are interested in the theory and applications of the relativistic Boltzmann equation. 24 cm.
