"Conventional MRI plays a significant role in detection and evaluation of cerebral tumors. However information such as cellularity, tumor type and grade, and the true extent of the tumor, cannot be addressed through this alone. Therefore additional imaging techniques like diffusion weighted imaging, diffusion tensor imaging, dynamic susceptibility contrast MRI and MR spectroscopy, which provide information at a microscopic level concerning tissue function and structure, have been incorporated into the clinical routine to aid tumor characterization and treatment. This book focuses on the basic principles and physics of these advanced MRI techniques, accompanied by clinical applications"--
