Integrated active antennas and spatial power combining par Navarro,, Julio A. Publication : [S.l.] Wiley-Interscience 1996 . 368 p. , This is the only book currently available that covers this subject. The authors piece together information from diverse areas which is essential to understand integrated and integrated active antennas. Emphasis is placed on active antennas and power combining applications, consolidating the work from numerous researchers. Early chapters lay the foundation for oscillator, antenna, array and power combining theory. Chapter five discusses important testing parameters and techniques for active antenna measurements and includes definitions for equivalent isotropic radiated power, locking gain and locking bandwidth. The last chapter sheds light on beam steering, a more recent development in active antenna arrays. Contains over 200 illustrations. 25 cm. Introduction to electromagnetic compatibility par Paul, Clayton R. Publication : [New jersey] Wiley-Interscience 2006 . 1016 p. , A Landmark text thoroughly updated, including a new CD As digital devices continue to be produced at increasingly lower costs and with higher speeds, the need for effective electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design practices has become more critical than ever to avoid unnecessary costs in bringing products into compliance with governmental regulations. The Second Edition of this landmark text has been thoroughly updated and revised to reflect these major developments that affect both academia and the electronics industry. Readers familiar with the First Edition will find much new material, including: * Latest U.S. and international regulatory requirements * PSpice used throughout the textbook to simulate EMC analysis solutions * Methods of designing for Signal Integrity * Fortran programs for the simulation of Crosstalk supplied on a CD * OrCAD(r) PSpice(r) Release 10.0 and Version 8 Demo Edition software supplied on a CD * The final chapter on System Design for EMC completely rewritten * The chapter on Crosstalk rewritten to simplify the mathematics Detailed, worked-out examples are now included throughout the text. In addition, review exercises are now included following the discussion of each important topic to help readers assess their grasp of the material. Several appendices are new to this edition including Phasor Analysis of Electric Circuits, The Electromagnetic Field Equations and Waves, Computer Codes for Calculating the Per-Unit-Length Parameters and Crosstalk of Multiconductor Transmission Lines, and a SPICE (PSPICE) tutorial. Now thoroughly updated, the Second Edition of Introduction to Electromagnetic Compatibility remains the textbook of choice for university/college EMC courses as well as a reference for EMC design engineers. An Instructor's Manual presenting detailed solutions to all the problems in the book is available from the Wiley editorial department. 24 cm. Silica optical fiber technology for devices and components design, fabrication, and international standards par Oh, Kyunghwan. Publication : Hoboken, N.J. Wiley 2012 . xiii, 450 pages , "As the emphasis in optical fiber research expands from transmission media to functional fiber devices, various types of specialty optical fibers are being actively developed. Especially in dense wavelength multiplexing (DWDM) systems, novel functions such as fiber filters, fiber MUX/DEMUX, fiber amplifiers, among others, are constantly needed and supplied by specialty fibers. Until recently, optical fibers were treated as passive transmission media with very little attention given to these novel fiber technologies"-- | "This book deals with current issues in optical fiber design, fabrication and applications in optical devices and components. Unlike existing book which are focused on individual device technologies the proposed book will provide a comprehensive and concurrent discussion of optical fiber technology that can then be applied to individual fiber devices"-- 25 cm. Solar cells and their applications par Fraas,, Lewis M. Publication : [S.l.] Wiley 2010 . 648 p. , A major update of solar cell technology and the solar marketplace Since the first publication of this important volume over a decade ago, dramatic changes have taken place with the solar market growing almost 100-fold and the U.S. moving from first to fourth place in the world market as analyzed in this Second Edition. Three bold new opportunities are identified for any countries wanting to improve market position. The first is combining pin solar cells with 3X concentration to achieve economic competitiveness near term. The second is charging battery-powered cars with solar cell–generated electricity from arrays in surrounding areas—including the car owners' homes—while simultaneously reducing their home electricity bills by over ninety percent. The third is formation of economic "unions" of sufficient combined economic size to be major competitors. In this updated edition, feed-in tariffs are identified as the most effective approach for public policy. Reasons are provided to explain why pin solar cells outperform more traditional pn solar cells. Field test data are reported for nineteen percent pin solar cells and for ~500X concentrating systems with bare cell efficiencies approaching forty percent. Paths to bare cell efficiencies over fifty percent are described, and key missing program elements are identified. Since government support is needed for new technology prototype integration and qualification testing before manufacturing scale up, the key economic measure is identified in this volume as the electricity cost in cents per kilowatt-hour at the complete installed system level, rather than just the up-front solar cell modules' costs in dollars per watt. This Second Edition will benefit technologists in the fields of solar cells and systems; solar cell researchers; power systems designers; academics studying microelectronics, semiconductors, and solar cells; business students and investors with a technical focus; and government and political officials developing public policy. 25 cm.
