Introduction to molecular motion in polymers par Pethrick, Richard A. Publication : [S.l.] Whittles Publishing 2011 . 224 p. , This book explains how molecular movement is determined by chemical structure, then how motion controls the physical and technological properties of polymer materials. Readers are introduced to the concepts of molecular movement in polymers and the connections with causative chemical structure on the one hand and resulting bulk physical and technological behavior on the other. The approach is non-mathematical, but is molecularly based and allows readers to understand the detailed chemical and rigorous mathematical discussions of more advanced texts. 24 cm. Polymer characterization physical techniques, 2nd edition par Campbell,, Dan. Publication : [S.l.] CRC Press 2000 . 481 p. , Discerning the properties of polymers and polymer-based materials requires a good understanding of characterization. This revised and updated text provides a comprehensive survey of characterization methods within its simple, concise chapters. Polymer Characterization: Physical Techniques , provides an overview of a wide variety of characterization methods, which makes it an excellent textbook and reference. It starts with a description of basic polymer science, providing a solid foundation from which to understand the key physical characterization techniques. The authors explain physical principles without heavy theory and give special emphasis to the application of the techniques to polymers, with plenty of illustrations. Topics covered include molecular weight determination, molecular and structural characterization by spectroscopic techniques, morphology and structural characterization by microscopy and diffraction, and thermal analysis. This edition contains a new chapter on surface analysis as well as some revised problems and solutions. The concise treatment of each topic offers even those with little prior knowledge of the subject an accessible source to relevant, simple descriptions in a well-organized format. 24 cm. Progress in monomers, oligomers, polymers, composites and nanocomposites   Publication : [S.l.] Nova Science Pub Inc 2009 . 401 p. , Knowledge is the foundation for mankind's most successful ventures. Today there is a visible shift in science, where people have shifted from chemistry to biology, and from biology to medicine. Everybody wishes to be wealthy and healthy. Jonathan Swift once said, "Everybody wants to live longer but nobody wants to be old." Still, the role of polymer chemistry (pure and applied sciences) is very prominent in the world of science today, but it is heading away from polymers and polymer blends towards composites and nanocomposites. It allows for the creation of new materials with unique properties and new possibilities. This a second edition on this subject. If we measure the world's production of materials by volume and not by weight, then we find that it equals the production of iron, cast, steel, and coloured metals together. This volume equals 250-270 million cubic metric of material per year. It is important to note that the rate of production of polymers is overcoming the rate of production of metals by 30-40%. Mankind used to live in the Stone Age, then the Iron Age, then the Bronze Age, and now it has come to be the Age of Polymers (leaning heavily towards composites and nanocomposites). There are reviews and essays, according to the opinions of editors, that are helping to further develop polymer science and assist in solving practical applications (new materials with improved properties). 27 cm.
